3-Alarm Fire Damages A.C. Landmark
ATLANTIC CITY (CBS 3) ―
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a 3-alarm fire that partially gutted an Atlantic City landmark over the weekend.
Firefighters worked for four hours to control flames that erupted at the Central Pier between St. James Place and Tennessee Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The fire apparently began in a pizza shop and quickly spread to three adjacent businesses.
"We looked up and saw flames shooting up over the building. It was a fast moving fire," said eyewitness, Richard Burke.
All four businesses are said to have been destroyed in the blaze.
No injuries were reported and fire investigators are still looking for the cause of this destructive fire.
The Central Pier has been hit by multiple fires in its history, including a May 2006 blaze that caused nearly $500,000 in damage.
