Feltonville Store Target Of Apparent Hate Crime

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Philadelphia Police are investigating an apparent hate crime inside a Feltonville business.

According to police, disparaging remarks against Iranians were found spray-painted inside Premium Seafood located in the 4700 block of N. 5th Street.

The robbers broke into the business Wednesday night, ransacked the business and wrote expletives on the walls of the business.

On one wall, the vandals wrote the words "Get Out".

"It's heartbreaking because you put heart and soul to something," said the owner who asked to remain anonymous. "It's not only for us, it's for the community as well."

The owner told CBS 3 that just a week ago, someone wrote racial slurs on the front gate of the store.

"They actually spray-painted our gate saying 'get out Iran' which P.S., we're not Iranian. We are Muslim, but we're not Iranian."

The owner believes the same vandals did the destructive and costly damage Wednesday evening.

The vandals destroyed thousands of dollars in equipment, smashed the front door and stole all of the business' seafood and a cash register.

Despite the expensive and extensive damage, the owner vows she will reopen the store.

So far, no arrests have been made.
