Facebook Flap Costs Eagles' Employee His Job

An Eagles game-day employee who lost his job after criticizing the team on his Facebook page says he's amazed at the support he's getting as his story spreads all over the country.
Dan Leone of South Philadelphia lives surrounded by certificates and photos from his job with Eagles security. But he says it all ended when he posted a status update on Facebook.
"I posted that I was bleeping aggravated that Dawkins signed with Denver, and I put that the Eagles are retarded," said Leone.
Leone, who has a limp due to an illness called transverse myelitis, says he knows the word is offensive and is sorry he used it.
"I thought about it, that it might have some repercussions, because I remembered that a few management was on my friends list," said Leone.
Leone says the Eagles called him a few days later to tell him he was fired.
"I apologized twenty million times," said Leone. "I told them I would never do it again, and they told me I could never be trusted."
Leone isn't the first person to be fired for a posting on Facebook, but right now, he might be the most famous. Radio stations have taken up Leone's cause. He's inundated with new Facebook friends. Some of them are even fans of the Dallas Cowboys. There's no converting Leone, though.
"I didn't mean to offend anybody, and I would very much so love a second chance having my job back, because I love being down there," said Leone. "This is my dream, to work for the Eagles."
Last night the Eagles declined to comment, saying it was a personnel matter.
