Lancaster Police Knew Wanted Fugitive 'Well'

LANCASTER, Pa. (CBS 3) ― Lancaster Police say they knew wanted fugitive Eric Floyd well during time he spent living in Lancaster. On Floyd's record are several robberies in Lancaster County.

"He's not new to his chosen path in life," said Lancaster Police Chief Keith Sadler.

Sadler served in the Philadelphia Police Department until April 2008.

"He's led a life of violent crime, and we've ended where we are today."

Floyd lived at a home on North Cherry Street in Lancaster when he was arrested in 2001 for a string of robberies at Lancaster-area Turkey Hill convenience stores.

Police say those robberies sent him to prison and eventually to a half-way house in Reading.

At one of the robberies, Floyd and his accomplices had a knife and a gun.

"Every one of those acts was considered violent, and it doesn't matter what kind of weapon he used," Sadler said. "Those are really heinous crimes."

Floyd is wanted by police for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski on May 3, 2008.
