Center City 'Bonnie & Clyde' Surrender

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A Center City couple accused of stealing the identities of their friends and neighbors turned themselves into police on Wednesday afternoon to face additional charges.

The couple surrendered to police separately and they are expected to be charged with burglary, theft and other related charges.

Dubbed the modern day 'Bonnie and Clyde ', 22-year-old Jocelyn Kirsch and her live-in boyfriend Edward Anderton, 25, are accused of taking over $100,000 using stolen identities.

Sallie Cook, a junior at Drexel University, said she at one time considered fellow student Kirsch her best friend for three years, but now she realizes she was just another alleged victim.

"We really did have good times together, but looking back on it now, all the puzzle pieces are coming together," she said.

Cook said during her friendship with Kirsch, personal items, including jackets and makeup, disappeared and her apartment was broken into and valuable information was taken.

"Our apartment was broken into over Christmas break and my fiancée's accounts were opened up, credit accounts were opened up without his permission, money was spent on his accounts," Cook said.

Police said the couple also targeted neighbors at the Belgravia condominiums on Chestnut Street. Authorities said numerous credit cards, drivers' licenses, equipment to made fake IDs and keys belonging to a majority of the mailboxes in the building were among the items confiscated in the pair's apartment.

The two allegedly used the pilfered funds in order to pay for numerous trips, various goodies and much more.

"She definitely did some things wrong, what my job is and what I am going to do is go through those and look through all the evidence, but I would imagine at some point, there would be some kind of plea in this case," Kirsch's attorney Ron Greenblatt explained.

Cook said Kirsch had been planning a lavish 25th birthday party for Anderton at an area restaurant.

"Paying for everybody's drinks and deserts. I'm sure that wasn't her money, which I'm now realizing," she said.

A hearing is scheduled for the couple on Thursday. The FBI has joined in the investigation as federal charges could be filed.
