High-Tech Doggie Daycare
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS 3) ―
Ever wonder what your pet does all day while you are at work? Well thanks to a business in Delaware, now you can!
For puppy parents like Allison Kachinsky, who considers her chocolate lab Duke her son, the Doggie Daycare allows her to work all day without any guilt.
"I don't want him cooped up in a house all day without having activities," Allison said.
So before work, she drops Duke off at Dogtopia of Wilmington and picks him up at the end of the day.
It's a new breed of dog kennel where there are no cages. Canine kids play and socialize.
The little ones in the romper room, the big dogs in the gym. They are fed lunch, snacks and even have nap time.
There is also a high tech twist.
Each playroom is equipped with its own webcam!
So while moms and dads are at work, they can log on to see what their little one is doing. It is piece of mind for those wondering just what do their pets do all day.
"He'll get on a couple times a day and say 'oh I see Duke, he's playing with the big red ball' or 'he's over there drinking water or he's lying down,'" Allison said.
And all that playing ball, wrestling and sliding down the slide makes for a really tired pup at the end of the day.
"When parents come at the end of the day, it's amazing what they say," Helen Jones of Dogtopia said.
"When I take him home, we'll just do a short walk and then he's ready for bed," Allison said.
And a tired puppy is usually pretty well behaved one, making for one big happy family.
Dogtopia also offers spa packages that include bathing and grooming and a half day of play. Or you can go and do the grooming yourself using their elevated tubs.
The doggie daycare costs about $25 a day. They also offer overnight boarding.
