Delaware police arrested said an area mom is in custody after allegedly shooting her own teenage son Thursday evening.
Desirre Hogan, 38, is accused of opening fire on her 13-year-old son while he was at his father's home on in Pike Creek just before 7:30 p.m.
Police said the teen was home alone when he saw his mother outside, who is not permitted at the residence due to a protection from abuse order.
When refusing to let Hogan into the home, her son told police she raised a handgun and fired a single shot through the window, striking him in the shoulder.
The wounded teen fled the home and flagged down a passing motorist who drove him a safe distance away and called 911.
The teen was taken to Christiana Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
Following the shooting, Hogan fled the scene and was eventually located outside a Midvale home. Police said she threatened to commit suicide, placing the gun inside her mouth, against her head and asking for officers to shoot her.
During the negotiation, police said a family member grabbed Hogan as the gun discharged. Police said the shot went into a nearby home, but no injuries were reported.
"The mother now is at the Wilmington Hospital where she's being evaluated. She will face charges when she's released from the hospital, most likely attempted murder or some sort of assault charge as well as weapon offenses," Corporal Trinidad Navarro said.
