Elderly Couple Killed In Delaware Crash

PIKE CREEK, Del. (CBS 3) ―

Police believe sun glare played a factor in a two-car crash that killed an elderly Delaware couple Tuesday evening.

The accident happened at about 7:20 on northbound Route 7 at Arundel Drive in Pike Creek, New Castle County.

According to police, a car driven by 80-year-old Marian Fragetti was struck in the passenger side as she was turning into the Doherty Funeral Home.

The passenger, identified by police as 79-year-old Benedict Halico of Wilmington, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fragetti was transported to Christiana Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 17-year-old David Deloya, was treated and released from Christiana Hospital.

Police said Deloya was an unlicensed driver and could not provide insurance documentation for his vehicle. He was cited for Driving Without a License and No Proof of Insurance.

The accident remains under investigation.
