Police have made an arrest in the brutal stabbing death of a teenage girl who found dead inside her New Castle County home Thursday afternoon.
Investigators said David Goldsborough murdered 13-year-old Destiny Liefheit, his second cousin, with a sword inside her Delaware home on Thursday.
Destiny Liefheit, 13, was found with multiple stab wounds to her upper body inside a home in the Hunter's Run Trailer Park shortly after 4:00 p.m.
According to police, the victim's guardian came home and found the teen unresponsive suffering from injuries to her upper body and covered in blood.
Police said when they arrested Goldsborough, he was heavily intoxicated and had cut wounds on his hands. Detectives also found a knife and sword collection.
"Goldsborough developed an intense dislike of Destiny and her family over a period of time which ended with yesterday's tragic results," Col. Rick Gregory said.
Police said Destiny's dog was found stabbed to death inside the residence.
Gregory said it was believed that police found the murder weapon inside Goldsborough's home.
Goldsborough has been charged with murder and other related offenses.
The incident remains under investigation.
