Driver Killed In Violent Northeast Phila. Crash
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
A driver was killed after losing control of his vehicle on the Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia Sunday afternoon.
Police said the victim was headed southbound on Roosevelt Blvd. when he lost control near Grant Ave.
The driver was ejected in the impact of the crash and his vehicle reportedly landed on top of him. Police believe the car was travelling in excess of 100 MPH at the time of the crash.
Several lanes of traffic were shut down while crews worked to clear the scene.
The victim's name has yet to be released, but police have noted that he was a 29-year-old Russian immigrant.
State Farm Insurance recently named the intersection at Grant and the Boulevard the 3rd deadliest in the United States.
It is unknown if alcohol played a role in the wreck.
