Bucks County Home Picked For New Flick
NEW HOPE, Pa. (CBS 3) ―
A popular book about a local man and his dog heads for the big screen and film crews are scouring our area for the perfect setting.
One Bucks County woman hopes her house makes the cut.
"They wanted a hill like that so they could film a toboggan scene," home owner Dava Guerin said.
It's an exciting time for Dava Guerin. She hopes her home will be used in a major Hollywood production called "Marley and Me" starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson.
Location scouts have been searching all over Bucks and Chester County for the perfect farmhouse to shoot scenes. That when one of the scouts came upon Dava's.
"We came home and there was a note in our mailbox from the scout which said we like your house and want to use it in a new movie called "Marley and Me," Guerin said.
The movie based on a book by Philly's own John Grogan, a former columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, is about his sweet but "spirited" dog named Marley.
"Marley destroyed a couch chewed through a mattress and drywall," filmmaker Stephen Stahl said.
Local film director Stephen Stahl, who shooting his own movie, says it's an exciting time in Bucks County.
"There are four movies being shot locally within the next six months and we have a film festival opening up work is wonderful out here," Stahl said.
Dava said she, her husband and two dogs would have to move out once shooting began, but she doesn't mind.
"Whatever shooting days you'd have to be out of there but it's a small price to pay to have a permanent record on film," Guerin said.
At his point it is unclear how much of the movie will be shot in Bucks County since most of the scenes will be based on Grogan's life before moving to Philadelphia.
