A young Phillies fan battling cancer will have his dream come true this weekend when he is given the opportunity to come face to face with a world champion.
Anthony Salvino, 9, has been battling Hodgkin's lymphoma since October 2008. Salvino, a huge Phils fan, has been granted a wish by the Make-A-Wish foundation to meet Souderton's own Jamie Moyer during spring training.
"I'm going to Florida to see the Phillies," said Anthony.
"I'm excited super excited," said Anthony's father Michael, who just can't wait to his child's dream com true.
Terri, Anthony's mother says this is putting a smile on their son's face and theirs, something she said is extremely difficult to do when watching your child battle such an illness.
Make-A-Wish helps families put smiles on their faces and forget their worries for awhile.
Initially Anthony asked for just a tour of Citizen's Bank Park, but the family found out, "We can do that any day," said Anthony.
So his next wish was to meet his favorite player, Jamie Moyer, who grew up in Souderton and went to Anthony's school Franconia Elementary.
"Really Jamie Moyer is my favorite because it's surprising how old he is to still play," said Anthony.
Jamie will go to Saturday's game and will travel in style.
"We have a limo," said Terri.
The rest of the itinerary, along with what Anthony will say, remains a surprise. "I guess I'll think of something when I walk up to him."
