SWAT Officer Wounded In Chester City Standoff
CHESTER CITY, Pa (CBS 3) ―
A member of the Chester City SWAT team was wounded during a
standoff with an armed gunman who was barricaded in his home.
At about 4:20 a.m. Saturday morning Chester City
policed responded to a call for a suicidal man barricaded in a residence in the
1300 block of Clover Street
Chester, Pa.
When police arrived on the scene they discovered that the
man was inside the home with another person and armed. The man inside the home
began firing at officers on the scene who quickly retreated to safety and
called for a tactical SWAT team to be deployed.
A member of the SWAT team was grazed in the neck when the
man began to fire at officers again. The SWAT officer was treated at the scene
for his wound which was not serious and returned to his post.
The barricaded man surrendered to police investigators
around 9:50 a.m. without causing harm to anymore police officers or the other
individual in the home.
The suspect is in custody with the Chester City Police.
