Ventnor Getting A True Boardwalk
VENTNOR, N.J. (AP) ―
Ventnor is finally getting a true boardwalk.
The New Jersey beach resort, just outside Atlantic City, is scrapping a two-block section made of aluminum that has been in place for more than 35 years.
Critics say it gets too slippery, particularly in the rain, but city workers say they've never had to replace it.
Senior citizens and bicycle riders were particularly averse to the metal section, even when it wasn't raining.
The city will replace the metal section with wood they have left over from previous repairs to the rest of the boardwalk.
The aluminum will be recycled at a scrap yard.
