Emergency management officials fanned out along the southern New Jersey coast on Tuesday, cataloguing damage to dunes, beaches and property from last week's nor'easter— even as local towns tallied tens of millions of dollars of their own damage claims.

Ventnor Getting A True Boardwalk

Ventnor is finally getting a true boardwalk. The New Jersey beach resort, just outside Atlantic City, is scrapping a two-block section made of aluminum that has been in place for more than 35 years.

Rip Currents Strong As Hurricane Bill Moves North

Swimmers might spend most of the weekend sitting on New Jersey and Delaware beaches instead of in the water. The National Weather Service says Hurricane Bill poses a high risk both Saturday and Sunday. By Saturday night, Hurricane Bill is expected to be approximately 300 miles from shore. A high risk advisory is in effect both Saturday and Sunday down the shore.

Delaware, Maryland Beaches Get High Water Marks

The beaches in Delaware and Ocean City, Md., are getting high marks for water quality. The National Resources Defense Council has rated the beaches in Maryland and Delaware as some of the nation's cleanest in its annual water quality report.

Jet Skier Uses Cell Phone To Call In Rescue

The Coast Guard needed a helicopter to rescue a New Jersey man after his personal watercraft ran aground. The Coast Guard says Robert Cook was riding his Jet Ski near Brigantine Bridge in Brigantine Bay when the tide went out Tuesday night.

Ocean City May Resume Beach Curfew

One of New Jersey's main shore resorts may be about to resume closing its beaches at 10 p.m. Ocean City had long had a curfew but dropped it last year as a condition for participating in a state beach-replenishment program.

Boy Saved After Hole Collapse At N.J. Shore

Sand collapsed around a boy and trapped him headfirst in a hole he was digging on a New Jersey beach. His mother's screams alerted others on the 128th Street beach in Long Beach Township Wednesday.
