Health: Facial Work-Out
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
In health, Medical Reporter Stephanie Stahl has details on a quick and easy way to shape up your face; no needles, no surgery and no pain.
Strengthen, tighten and tone your face.
Carole Maggio teaches facercise. It's her all natural way of keeping your face in shape.
"You can actually enlarge your eyes. You can make your nose shorter and more narrow because the nose does grow the length of the life. You can make cheeks higher and fuller," said Carole.
She says it's similar to lifting weights in a gym. Muscles get stronger and bigger, and can eventually change the shape of the body.
Carole says there are 57 muscles in the face and neck which can be pumped up too.
Her facercise is in a book and on DVD, and you can have a class put on a CD to use in the car.
"So instead of being bored on the freeway, you can be exercising your nose when everyone else is picking theirs," said Carole.
She says some patients use her program to correct certain facial problems.
"Bells Palsy, acoustic neuroma, and even drop eye when people are born with a sleepy eye; you can correct a lot of those things," said Carole.
But she says most students try facercise to help fight the signs of time and age.
Dermatologist and Plastic Surgeons say face exercises might help strengthen some muscles slightly, but there's no evidence they can make you look younger.
