Health: Skin Solutions
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
In health, Medical Reporter Stephanie Stahl has details on one of the newest ways to get pretty skin -- a clear, smooth complexion.
The lunch-time face-lift
no surgery, no downtime.
Thermage was one of first laser like devices to tighten skin.
Now there's a new and improved version of the radio frequency technology that can plump up more collagen quicker, to smooth out skin.
Botox is also branching out, it zaps wrinkles and pimples.
40-year-old Michelle Polese struggled with serious acne
80-percent of people have outbreaks at some point, many as adults.
And now for the first time in years, Michelle has clear skin.
"I am so excited, I feel good about myself," Michelle said.
And it happened by mistake after Michelle had Botox injections for wrinkles. There was an unexpected benefit, the acne disappeared.
"Botox not only works just to make the muscles relaxed, but it also stops the transmission of oil production," Dr. Stephen Davis said.
And the latest skin cream technology is aimed at repairing wrinkles and discoloration's from sun damage.
The enzymes in Remergent target damaged DNA in the skin that causes pre-mature aging.
"It really works on an area of the body in the actual DNA matrix that nothing else on the market does, so it's very exciting," Dr. Davis said.
There are lots of skin treatments out there, they all have different kinds of results and the prices are all over the place.
Botox is not a tested or widely recognized treatment for acne.
Doctors say the single biggest thing you can do to have pretty complexion is stay out of the sun.
