Green Scene: Recycling Angels
NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS 3) ―
Got stuff you can't sell and don't want to throw away? A Delaware company says it will recycle it for you for a price.
Real estate broker Pam Armento is remodeling her West Chester real estate office, and she has a lot of stuff left over.
"We need certain materials moved, and furniture, and we have copiers, and we're concerned environmentally," said Armento.
Enter Recycling Angels, a Delaware firm that does home and business cleanouts.
Owner Dave Bart said, "Our main focus, as you can see from our advertising, is 95 percent recycling. That's our goal. Some days will be higher, some days will be lower."
A full truckload costs about $550. They start by sorting everything to be given away, sold, or recycled, even something as simple as leftover metal.
"It's not just a piece of metal that needs to go into a landfill," said Bart. "It needs to be put into a metal recycling center."
Bart says even leftover paint can be given new life.
Recycling Angels hopes to find a home for everything in Pam Armento's office.
"A lot of different things that have new life or still have a little life left in 'em, we can keep it going," said Bart.
"It's a great feeling," said Armento. "You hate to just throw something away."
Recycling Angels hope they never have to.
For the stuff that can't be easily recycled, Recycling Angels have two stores where they sell it.
