Northeast vs Samuel Fels
Carmen Conicelli
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
It was a chilly wintry afternoon at Charles Martin Memorial Stadium. Jeans, a sweater, and a light weight jacket were not enough to keep the body warm. I arrived at the stadium around my normal time to find players warming up and getting ready to play some football. That's right football! However it was not American football it was European football which here in the United States we call Soccer.
That's right folks this evening Friday Football Frenzy Web Extra Game of the week on cbs3.com has taken a different path. I had the privilege to watch a thriller between Northeast Vikings versus Samuel Fels Panthers in High School Boys Varsity Soccer.
First half was like watching a ping pong ball bouncing back and forth on the table. Both teams were running up and down the field going nowhere. Finally some scoring occurred Fourteen minutes into the game Fels strike first scoring on a corner kick to go up 1 to nothing. Panthers didn't stop there with fourteen minutes to go in first half they strike again and go up 2 to nothing.
Second half Fels offense continued to pressure Northeast defense scoring eight minutes into the half and taking a commanding 3 to zip lead. All afternoon long the Panthers offense was unstoppable scoring two more goals to go up 5 nothing. The last goal came with eleven minutes left in the game Panthers striker came in on the breakaway and deinking the goaltender to tap the ball into the back of the net.
Final score visitors Samuel Fels Panthers win 5 to nothing over the Northeast Vikings improving their record to 6-4 on the season while Northeast losses their fourth game and dropping their record to 7-4.
