Friday Football Frenzy: Olney vs WPHS
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
This week's addition of Friday Football Frenzy Web Extra Game of the Week was at West Philadelphia High School where the Speedboys hosted the Trojans from Olney High.
It was a misty damp afternoon at WPHS stadium where the Speedboys came out in their orange jerseys and the visiting Trojans in their white with blue stripes uniforms. The first half ended the way the game started nothing to nothing. WPHS senior running back Jamar Cox had a good first half breaking away from tackles but could not find his way into the end zone.
The 2nd half was a different story. Olney Trojans came out strong. The second play from scrimmage Trojans senior quarterback Terrell Smith found sophomore wide receiver Jaron Turner down the field. Turner turned on the jets breaking away from tackles and taking it all the way to the house. Kicker Osse Emmanuel made the extra point giving the Trojans a 7 to nothing lead.
Speedboys defensive back Laquell Fitzhugh came up with a fumble recovery and ran it all the way back into Trojans territory trying to spark a comeback. The Speedboys however could not capitalize on the Trojans turnover. Trojans though did not stop their offensive attack, fourth quarter Terrell Smith again found receiver Jaron Turner this time in the middle of the field, after a huge collision, Turner emerged from the pack and ran all the way into the end zone scoring his second TD of the game.
The game ended with Trojans quarterback Terrell Smith taking the knee. Olney High wins the game 13 to nothing over WPHS. Trojans improve their record to 2 and 2 while the Speedboys drop to 1 and 3 on the season.
