Thousands are expected to mourn a Georgetown police officer shot and killed in the line of duty last week.
Funeral services for Patrolman Chad Spicer will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Crossroads Community Church followed by a procession through downtown Georgetown and then to Cokesbury Cemetery.
State police Sgt. Walter Newton says 3,000 to 4,000 law enforcement officers from more than 100 police agencies from around the country are expected to attend. The public is invited to line the procession route.
Spicer was killed and another officer was hurt in a shooting last week. One man has been charged with first-degree murder in the slaying.
