Vigil Held For Fallen Officer Chuck Cassidy
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
A vigil was held Sunday night to honor fallen Philadelphia Police Officer Charles 'Chuck' Cassidy who was shot on October 31, 2007, and died of his injuries the following day.
More than 100 fellow officers gathered at the Dunkin Donuts at 66th and Broad Street, where the shooting occured, to honor the memory of one of their own.
"It's a celebration of his life and helps us get through they days," said Philadelphia Police Captain John McCloskey. "Not a day that goes by that the officers of the 35th district don't think about Chuck."
Officer Chuck Cassidy was killed in the line of duty while attempting to stop a robbery in progress.
His attacker, John 'Jordan' Lewis , 21, is set to stand trial for Cassidy's murder in a few weeks.
