A special memorial was dedicated to a fallen Philadelphia Police officer in a park where he spent most of his childhood.
The Mural Arts Program, in collaboration with the Parkwood Youth Organization, unveiled a mural paying tribute Officer John Pawlowski.
Pawlowski's wife Kim and their infant son, John the 3rd, were in attendance as the memorial featuring the portrait of Officer Pawlowski was unveiled.
The mural, by Jon Laidacker, graces the façade of the Parkwood Youth Organization, where Pawlowski played basketball and soccer as a youth.
"You captured John and our family perfectly, thank you," Kim Pawlowski said during the emotional ceremony.
A memorial whiffleball game and fundraiser was held after the unveiling, with all proceeds going towards the Pawlowski family.
Officer Pawlowski was shot while confronting a suspect in the robbery of a cab driver.
The suspect, Rasheed Scrugs, 33, is awaiting trial in connection with Pawlowski's slaying.
