Memorial Ceremony Held For Fallen Officer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A Memorial Ceremony was held to mark the one year anniversary of the death of Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski Sunday afternoon.

Uniformed officers, family and friends met with umbrellas in hand at the corner of Almond and Schiller in Northeast Philadelphia at 2 p.m. to remember the fallen hero.

Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski was shot and killed at the corner of Almond and Schiller while responding to a bank robbery call on May 3rd, 2008.

One of the three robbery suspects was shot and killed by K-9 officers on scene and the other two initially eluded the police.

Both suspects who fled were eventually apprehended and charged with murder.

Mayor Nutter attended the event to honor the fallen hero.
