Bon Jovi Builds Houses For Habitat
Rocker Gets Down And Dirty For Benefit Of Less Fortunate

He's a rocker on a mission.
Jon Bon Jovi is trying to make dreams come true for would-be homeowners.
He's teamed up with Habitat For Humanity and with hammer in hand on Tuesday the rocker was on a roll in Brooklyn.
He makes his living rocking the house, but on Tuesday in Brooklyn Bon Jovi was helping to build it.
"I feel great doing it," he said.
That's mega-star Jon Bon Jovi working his celebrity instead of his six-string, banging out houses instead of hits.
"If you want to feel great doing something, volunteer your time and efforts," Bon Jovi said.
With the folks from Habitat For Humanity in Bedford Stuyvesant before an awestruck crowd, Bon Jovi put on a different kind of performance.
"It takes money, it takes effort, it takes desire," Bon Jovi told WCBS-TV.
On Tuesday, along with volunteers and money from Delta Airlines, the group committed to build two Habitat projects in Brooklyn -- affordable housing for working families in need. Delta recently donated $750,000 to the Bon Jovi-Habitat effort.
"It's our belief that we can hand up -- not hand out -- to families who may otherwise never realize the joy of home ownership," Bon Jovi said.
It's a familiar role for the philanthropic musician, who's compassionate home building efforts in New Orleans and Philadelphia helped raise social consciousness around the country.
Bon Jovi is actually an ambassador to Habitat For Humanity -- a rocker with a soul.
"It doesn't matter if you're a Rock 'n Roll star or if you're just a caring individual who wants to help others," Bon Jovi said. "We can rebuild the inner cities."
One neighborhood at a time.
