Two Philadelphia Police
officers were forced to make a split-second decision on whether or not
to use deadly force when confronted with two shooting suspects in the Logan
neighborhood of the city.
While on patrol near Broad and Wingohocking, Officers Barry Delagol and Charles
Cassidy were alerted by the distinct sound of gunfire just before midnight on March 1.
The two officers ran towards the shots and into the sights
of 23-year-old Vincent Turner and 19-year-old Terrence Davis, who were armed
with a .32 caliber revolver and a .380 automatic handgun according to police.
Authorities said the two suspects had just shot another man
four times.
"They're coming towards us and we ordered them to stop and to show their
hands," said Officer Cassidy.
Instead of surrendering, the suspects took cover behind a group of parked cars,
the officers said.
"We did try to take some type of cover and ordered the males to come out
from behind the cars and show their hands," said Officer Delagol.
With their guns drawn, the officers finally were able to get the suspect to
drop their weapons and avoid a potentially violent situation.
"It was a good feeling to put two people behind bars that were involved in
an incident like that," said Officer Cassidy.
The unidentified victim involved in the shooting was taken to Albert
Einstein Medical
Center in critical condition.
The two suspects were charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and
other related charges.
