The president of a suburban Philadelphia trade college says accident specialists will examine school policies following the electrocution death of a freshman during a class at the school's power plant.
Officials say 18-year-old Michael Savage, from Sharon Hill, was apparently wiring a large lamp at the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades in Delaware County when he was hit by a jolt of electricity on Friday. County medical examiner Fredric Hellman on Saturday ruled his death an accident from "low-voltage electrocution."
College president Guy Gardner says the school is still gathering information but will bring in outside help to determine the exact cause and make sure the school's accident prevention policies are adequate. The county sent counselors to the school after the accident, and additional counseling is to be available Monday.
Services for Savage are scheduled Tuesday at Holy Cross Church in Springfield.
