Del. Sex Offender Arrested For Impersonating Cop
REHOBOTH, Del. (CBS 3) ―
Delaware State Police arrested a convicted sex offender who allegedly impersonated a police officer in Rehoboth Beach.
On Thursday, State Police were called to the Corning Ware Outlet on the 36000 block of Bayside Outlet Driver for reports of sexual harassment.
Investigators revealed that a white male, later identified as Michael Gagnon, 45, of Dagsboro, entered the store and made inappropriate sexual comments to a 20-year-old employee.
According to police, Gagnon then fled the outlet and entered the Purple Parrot Restaurant, where he solicited a 19-year-old male employee, making various sexual comments.
Rehoboth police were called after Gagnon, who was wearing police apparel and driving what appeared to be a used, unmarked Ford Crown Victoria patrol vehicle, refused to leave the restaurant because he was a "police officer."
Rehoboth officers turned Gagnon over to Delaware State Police without incident and he was charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and Impersonating a Police Officer among other charges.
Gagnon was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Center after failing to post bond.
