Water Floods Cumberland County Courthouse
BRIDGETON, N.J. (CBS 3) ―
Strong storms sent nearly four feet of water rushing into the basement of the Cumberland County Courthouse Wednesday evening.
The basement of the courthouse, which is located on W. Broad Street in Bridgeton, was completely filled with water.
According to officials, the lower level of the building had nearly four feet of water in certain spots.
Several offices housed in the basement of the building were filled with water and were severely damaged.
Preliminary reports indicate that the force of the water knocked out the frame of a window, allowing the water to come rushing into the building.
The courthouse will be closed on Thursday to repair damages.
