3 On Your Side: Text Message Food Orders
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
When you're hungry, the last thing you want to do is wait. Well now, ordering food is getting easier and faster than ever.
3 On Your Side's Jim Donovan shows you how.
The lines are long to get a sandwich at the Wawa in University City. But now getting your food has never been faster or easier, thanks to GoMobo. It's new technology that allows you to order your food by sending a text message. "They can make your order and you can prepay so you don't have to stop and pay when you get there," said Noah Glass, founder of GoMobo.com.
All you have to do first, is set up an online account with a credit card. Once you text your order, head to the store and at no extra charge, pick it up without ever waiting in line. "I don't have to wait, I will be on time now for my classes, this will be good," said Penn student Dan O'Brien.
"This will simplify our customers lives, save them time and give them back maybe a minute or two, maybe five minutes each and every day," said Howard Stoeckel, CEO of Wawa.
It works at Jake's Philadelphia Cheesesteaks too. Jake's has been using GoMobo for a few months and owner Gary Dorfman says those who use it, love it. "They can bypass the line, come right in and pick up their food right when they get here," said Dorfman.
Want your pizza fast? Papa John's uses similar texting technology. "You register online, then you set up your favorites, then you order and you can have it for carry out or delivery," said Steve Cullum with Papa John's.
This technology is available at all Papa John's but right now, there are only 6 Wawa's in the area that offer it. More stores are expected to be added in the next few weeks.
