3 On Your Side: Shopping For Bargains
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
If you think that the cost of groceries is rising faster than usual, you are right! For many, that means back to basics and being a smart shopper.
Beginning this week, 3-on your side's Jim Donovan compares the circulars and the sales and finds some great deals.
Prices are going up everywhere! Shopping for bargains is key according to smart shoppers like Miriam Gallagher.
"I still check the circulars every week," said Miriam.
Darlene Russell, a mother of three, says she keeps a close eye out for deals.
"If it's a bargain, I'm right here at the store early," said Darlene.
Janet Giffear will go anywhere for the right prices.
"I travel to different stores. I look for sales," said Janet.
3-On your side looked for them too. So we scoured the latest ads in search of some of the best prices. We identified our top five.
If your planning to grill out, now through Saturday Wegman's is offering it's club pack, 5 lbs or more of 90 percent lean fresh ground beef for $1.99 a pound.
Beginning Friday, Acme is offering a mix and match deal.
Buy any 10 select general mills cereals, various snack mixes, granola bars and fruit roll ups and the final price is $1.50 a piece.
You have to buy ten items, but you can mix and match anyway you want.
Also starting Friday, Pathmark has cut the price on Lay's classic potato chips, $1.48, for 12 1/2 and 13 ounce bags.
Looking for fresh produce? Genuardi's has tomatoes on the vine for .99 cents a pound.
Beginning Sunday, ShopRite has a 24 oz. twin pack of Thomas' English muffins for $2.49.
Remember, most super market chains require that you sign up and use their club cards to take advantage of the biggest savings. Like the mix and match deal.
Don't forget to use coupons and remember to stock up when your favorite items are on sale.
