Family Dogs Found Slain In Chester County

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS 3) ― Police in Chester County are searching for whoever is responsible for shooting and killing two family pets execution-style.

Officers with the Chester County SPCA said two dogs were shot and then left along railroad tracks in Pocopson Township.

"It appears they were shot somewhere else and brought to this location. Awful. Inhumane. I don't know how anybody could do that," Officer Cherly Shaw with the Chester County SPCA said.

Emma was a year-and-a-half and Luna was two-years-old. The dogs were owned by a farmer on Wawaset Road, but they were found dead along the tracks three miles away from their home.

The owner reported the dogs missing to the SPCA on Sunday. Hours later, a woman walking around the railroad tracks found the dogs.

"There were two dogs placed tail to tail next to tracks," Rick Britton of the SPCA explained. "These dogs were shot, really between the eyes, at close range."

Officials said the owner is not a suspect and he has no idea who would have killed the dogs.

Officers with the SPCA believe a late-model maroon Ford F-150 may have something to do with the case. A witness reportedly saw the truck in the area where the dogs were found.

"This is a person that we would like to talk to. We're really appealing to the public to see if we can get any information about this crime," Britton said.

A $500 reward is being offered in the case. To report any information, you can contact the Chester County SPCA at 610-692-6113.
