Police are searching for the suspect in an early morning Ocean City bank robbery.
According to police, the Sturdy Savings Bank on 34th Street was robbed by a male suspect at about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.
The suspect reportedly made a threat to a bank employee before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police said the suspect did not display a weapon.
The suspect then reportedly hopped on a bicycle after the robbery and headed North on Simpson Avenue. He then got into a Ford F-150 pickup truck and drove off. Investigators recovered the bike a short distance from the bank.
This was the second area bank robbery in as many days and authorities believe the suspect is responsible for at least five other robberies in South Jersey and Wilmington.
In these robberies, the suspect apparently fled the scene on a bicycle.
Officers from Ocean City, Somers Point, Woodbine and Bass River are searching for the suspect.
Anyone with information about the bank robberies should contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at (609)677-6400 or the Ocean City Police Detective Bureau at (609)399-9111.
