Dell To Pay $25k Settlement To N.J. Customers

TRENTON (AP) ― Computer manufacturer Dell Inc. has agreed to pay a total of $25,000 to New Jersey customers who have had problems with the company's financing promotions, rebate deals and technical support since 2005.

Dell admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement announced yesterday, but has agreed to make some changes to its business. The company must now disclose that most customers won't receive the best financing deal from the company and that rebates must be sent promptly.

In a similar but separate agreement announced yesterday, Dell customers in 34 other states will get a total of $1.5 million from the Round Rock, Texas-based company.

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office says it's not known how many Garden State residents are in line for checks. Consumers must file claims by April 13.
