Mount Laurel Township is forcing employees to take furloughs to cope with the tough economic times.
One November 20 and December 4, 140 employees from public works and municipal staff will be furloughed. Township business will grind to a halt on those days.
Officials say the move will save about $44,000, and the alternative was layoffs.
Police and emergency personnel will not be affected by the furloughs.
