Moorestown Police Investigate Attempted Abduction
MOORESTOWN, N.J. (CBS 3) ―
Police in Burlington County are investigating the alleged attempted abduction of a young girl Monday afternoon.
Investigators said the alleged incident happened at about 3:50 p.m. near S. Shirley and Beacon Avenues in Moorestown.
According to investigators, a 12-year-old girl had just gotten off a Moorestown Township BOE school bus when a white van pulled alongside her.
Police said the vehicle was occupied by two possibly Hispanic males. The driver was bald and the passenger had a moustache with athletic build.
The passenger allegedly asked the juvenile to get in the vehicle to help look for his son. The juvenile refused, at which point the passenger ordered the juvenile to get in the van as he reached and tried to grab her.
The girl was able to run away and her mother called police.
The van was described as dirty, "beat up" with a crack in the windshield, missing the driver's side mirror, possible ladder racks, with unknown New Jersey tags.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Moorestown Police Criminal Investigations Division at
856-914-3046.
