Cat Burglar OnThe Prowl In Bucks County

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS 3) ― Police in Bucks County are searching for a "cat burglar" who is apparently on the loose.

Police believe the same suspect is responsible for at least six robberies in Bensalem. Authorities say the suspect broke into the homes while the residents were asleep.

In one of the cases, a resident of Anaconda Way awoke to find the burglar in his house. The homeowner confronted the intruder and the pair got into a scuffle.

Police say the victim suffered a minor injury to his shin while the suspect was able to get away with money, jewelry and a camera. He was seen getting into a grayish blue, four-door Ford Taurus that had a dent on the passenger side doors and fender.

Later that same day, authorities say the suspect struck two additional homes on the same street. One of the unsuspecting victims was asleep in her house when the thief stole money from her purse. In the second incident, a family's 180 pound St. Bernard thwarted the robbery.

Police believe the same suspect is also connected to similar burglaries on Bellview Drive, Corry Avenue and White Oak Lane.

The burglar is described as a light skinned black male, who is short in height and was wearing jeans and a dark colored sweatshirt.

"We're concerned and we want the public to keep an eye out because they are our eyes and ears," Sgt. Andrew Aninsman of the Bensalem Police Department explained.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Bensalem Police.
