Philly Singles Speed Things Up
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
For many, the single scene exists in bars, restaurants and even online. But, there's another way to approach being single in the city
through speed dating.
"It gets the nonsense out of the way. You can ask the questions you really want to know and that you need to know... then move on," said Speed Dater Nafis Williams.
The latest company to jump on board, Speed Date Philadelphia, conducts weekly events where fifteen men and fifteen women meet at a certain location, then rotate every six minutes.
"I think it's a really great option because I feel like you already know whether you have a connection with that someone in the first few minutes with them," said Speed Dater Rhiannon Vlankenship.
At the end of a session, everyone gets a match card where they can fill in who they would like to see for a more extended period of time. From there, a connection is only made if both parties show interest.
Electronic notification is sent via speeddatephiladelphia.com, a process that saves time and face.
"You don't have to look in a person's face and have them lie to you, or give you the wrong number or say they have a boyfriend," said Williams.
And on the brighter side of things, you might wind up sitting across from Mr. or Mrs. Right.
Open to singles of all ages, a Speed Date Philadelphia session will cost around thirty dollars. Advanced registration is required and all spots are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
