Website Cheers For Science Literacy
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Never a fan of science class? Why not try a new kind of lesson? Known as sciencecheerleader.com, the year-old site aims to improve science literacy with the help of professional cheerleaders.
"It's just to say, you know, science isn't for geeks. It really is for everybody," said Founder Darlene Cavalier. The site features "Brain Makeover," a quiz that tests your level of adult science literacy. To help your score, short videos starring 76'ers cheerleaders present eighteen basic science principles. That's followed by an in-depth blog post by a science professor."Often times, people just jump to the brain quiz. And it's interesting to see the numbers because they look at themselves and compare how they did to other people. Then, they decide to go back
watch the videos, read the blog and take the quiz again," explained Cavalier. If you'd like to test your science literacy, click here.
