Madden Madness: A Girl's Guide To The Game
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
They say it's just a game, but for some men it's everything.
"It's his passion, it's what he does," said virtual sideline wife Samantha Jackson.
For the past 7-years, she's stood alongside Ron Jackson or "Philly Ron," as he rose to the top, becoming one of Madden's all time top players.
"I kinda knew what I was getting into at first, but I didn't know he was going to be this serious about it," said Jackson.
And Ron's not alone. The best selling video game attracts players of all ages.
"Guys look at is as an extension of their ability to control a team, as an extension of their so-called former playing careers," explained Ron Jackson.
So, how can you get in on the game time action? Start by leveling the playing field.
"You can go into the settings for the ladies and take it down to rookie, put the game style on beginner, then allow your partner five rewinds."
That means you can re-do plays that didn't work out ... or as Ron puts it:
"If your boyfriend tries to get slick and sees where your play is going and actually goes there, you can rewind it and have the chance to do it over again."
Electronic play art guides your next move, but if play calls and defense aren't your strong suit ...
"Madden will actually call the play for you
so you don't even have to call the play, all you need to do is advance."
And just one tip for men
be prepared to lose.
"I guess if you beat us, you can tell us to turn it off
get back to work."
