Local Chef Teaches Men To Wine & Dine

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― For 26-year-old Sam Berger, there's a lot riding on dinner for two. After a ten year, "on-again, off-again" relationship with his girlfriend Jen, he's hoping a newfound confidence in the kitchen will win her for good.

He's one of dozens of men enrolled in "Cooking With Nunzio," a 4-week cooking series aimed to help men wine and dine their way to romance.

"It works, they love it," said Chef Nunzio, of his class.

But, will it work for Sam?

"Of all the years we've been together, I've always taken her out to dinner. I've never cooked for her. But, now I want to show her that I want to be more serious, more mature," said Berger.

The lesson starts at the local market, where Chef Nunzio teaches the guys about freshness and frugality. Once all of the ingredients are purchased, the group heads back to the restaurant.

There, Chef Nunzio assists the guys in preparation and presentation of the meal.

"At the end, it's about the flowers, the wine, the candle light," said Chef Nunzio.

"And once you've done that, she's cooked."

We checked in with Sam following his dinner with Jen, he said she was very impressed with his cooking and a reconciliation just might follow.

He says he owes it to Chef Nunzio!
