Jerry Springer To Wrap 'Chicago' Tour In Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― As the Tony award-winning musical Chicago wraps up its nearly week-long run at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, CBS3.com catches up with its most famous cast member: Jerry Springer.

For nearly two decades, Springer had made a name for himself by featuring mind numbing, albeit entertaining baby momma drama on his weekday talk show 'The Jerry Springer Show.'

Now, he's taking to the stage as 'Billy Flynn' in Chicago. A role he says he accepted because he'd "been drinking," but has really come to enjoy.

It's one of several of undertakings Springer has managed throughout his sixty-five years. The lawyer turned civil servant, Cincinatti Mayor, newsanchor and country music artist also placed top five on ABC's Dancing With The Stars and currently hosts "America's Got Talent."

"I've basically been everything you can't respect," joked Springer.

Still, according to the critics, he's holding his own as the over the top, somewhat sleezy criminal lawyer Flynn.

"Well, except for the sleezy part, I can relate to the role," explained Springer with a smile.

You can see him in action this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Academy of Music here in Philadelphia.
