Philly's Most Hated: Meet Arthur Kade
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
In a world where being famous for being famous means you've made it, things just got worse. Meet Arthur Kade.
The former financier turned aspiring actor has earned cult hero... er, villain status for a controversial blog, which documents his "journey to fame." Or, as many refer to it, an unapologetic, self-indulgent, chauvinistic attempt at shaping his pseudo-celebrity.
Still, what started as major online buzz has erupted into main stream media attention. From his appearance on the Danny Bonaduce Show on 94.1 WYSP to this feature in Philadelphia Magazine. So, the question isn't "Who is Arthur Kade?" But, rather, "Why do we care?"
"I think this somehow speaks to our obsession with celebrity," explained Philadelphia Magazine Executive Editor Tom McGrath.
"You have a guy who a lot of people probably think isn't all that deserving of this celebrity. And yet, the more people rail about that, the more famous he becomes."
And perhaps his most controversial post yet, something known as the Kade Scale, where he rates women on a scale from 7-10 because, as Kade puts it, anyone below that isn't worth listing or discussing.
"I have ultra high standards. I'm a super hard grader because I've had the best, I've hung with the best and I've dated the best," said Kade.
But, the best doesn't include Cameron Diaz. She ranks a 7 on the Kade Scale, while Halle Berry ranks an 8. Angelina Jolie comes in just one point below perfection, while Gisele Bundchen, according to Kade, is a perfect 10.
So, why the need to objectify women and when will Kade's so-called fifteen minutes of fame come to an end?
"I think it's at about two-hours already. And, I don't believe in fifteen minutes of fame. If I did, then I wouldn't be doing this," said Kade.
Which begs the question ... "What would he be doing?"
