Online Sample Sales Offer Designer Savings

They're the brands that catch your eye, but seldom fit your budget. But, what if you could score designer duds for up to 90 percent off?
It's called sample shopping and while it used to take place in New York City showrooms, it's now happening online through various sample sale website.
"We always guarantee anywhere between fifty and eighty percent off ... sometimes even more," said Philadelphia native Ann Taylor, who created thesavvy.com.
Taylor works directly with the brands in order to offer such significant savings.
"This is what is left over for them at the end of the season. So, by the time we get the summer merchandise, they're already onto fall," explained Taylor.
And while
thesavvy.com is open to everyone and does not currently require users to create an account, many other sample sale websites do require referrals from a friend in order to get in on the savings.
Once an account is made, users receive e-mail notification of upcoming sales. Once the sale begins, members have anywhere from twelve to forty-eight hours to shop.
"If you really like it, you have to jump right on it," said
Gilt.com shopper Sabrina Tamburino.
A member of the site for two years now, she has scored designer duds from the likes of Roberto Cavalli and Valentino -- both up to seventy percent off.
"I don't have to go to New York, I don't have to get on the train. I don't have to carry any bags! It comes right to my door," said Tamburino.
And best of all ... Tamburino says it allows her to shop...somewhat guilt free!
