Philly-born Fashionista Launches Spring Line
Jamie Lewin of Phyl Couture Showcases Spring Collection at TONY
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Saturday marked an important homecoming for Philly-born fashionista Jamie Lewin of Phyl Couture. The hot young designer launched her spring and summer collection during a trunk show at Tony's on 3rd street in Old City.
The collection, which showcases dresses, skirts and tops, keeps with this season's trends by incorporating a global inspiration.
"The collection was based on images of Morocco, the landscape, architecture, the colors," said Lewin.
The clothes may look great, but Lewin says she tailored her collection to feel great too.
"It's all made of soft jersey fabrics so it's comfortable to wear and it's got a lot of hand details, embroidery and beading," said Lewin.
Lewin learned the importance of technique throughout her study at the Fashion Institute in New York. Prior to launching Phyl Couture, she worked in merchandising for several big names including Armani, Ralph Lauren and Liz Claiborne.
Today, Lewin runs her own show out of her own studio in the heart of New York's fashion district. Still, this Penn State graduate admits she has seen her set of challenges.
"It's a lot of work, more work than I ever thought of
and you just kind of learn as you go along."
According to TONY's owner Pamela Dollak, Lewin's hard work has paid off.
Dollak said, "Her line is super fun, super colorful and so comfortable. I've had nothing but positive feedback about her line."
The Phyl Couture collection is available at TONY's throughout spring and summer. Prices range from $65 to $175. So, be sure to get your Phyl!
