Democratic Debate Gets Online Reaction
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
As millions of viewers tuned in to the Democratic Presidential Debate Wednesday night, hundreds logged on to CBS3.COM for a live web chat during the two-hour event.
While Democratic Presidential candidates, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton took center stage to discuss issues like the war in Iraq, CBS 3 web users found their spotlight in a very active chat room.
User, 'jjjk' sounded off, "We need to start taking care of our own here at home more instead of spending trillions on babysitting others and then paying to rebuild them if we spent that money here at home we would not have any uninsured children or hungry homeless people especially war vets."
Other topics discussed included healthcare, the economy, gun control and rising fuel costs. Some users were impressed with the candidates proposed plans, while others felt it was more about drama and less about substance.
User, 'I_M' explained, "The bottom line is we need to turn things around in this country, but the reality is these are empty promises until action is taken."
In the end, most users agreed that Hillary came out on top both because of the way she handled herself and as a result of Obama's visible "stumble."
User, 'natross' added, "I think she won because Obama was just so defensive and whiny. Anytime she said anything differing from his position he would just get so flustered and just try to bring up something against her, even if it wasn't related. He just can't take any pressure. He isn't used to anyone disagreeing with him."
Reaction to Wednesday's debate may have fueled speculation as to who will come out on top, but the April 22nd Pennsylvania Primary is sure to reveal a whole lot more.
