Montco. Native Could Be Top Model
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
The reality show competition may be underway, but for Montgomery County native Jennifer An, America's Next Top Model feels more like a dream.
"I could not believe I was there. Still, to this day ... I do not believe it," said An.
At 5 foot 5 inches tall, the Upper Dublin High School graduate makes history as part of the first crop of contestants under 5 foot 7 inches.
"I actually wrote to Tyra about two years ago ... and I was like, Tyra, you need to do a cycle that has contestants under 5 foot seven.
An may have gotten her wish, but said living among her competition wasn't quite as pleasant.
"It's super messy, everyone clamoring for showers, sinks, mirrors. It was awful," said An.
Add in the stress of challenges and scrutiny from the judges, and An says she quickly came to terms with the task at hand.
"I learned that if you're walking into 'Top Model,' you have to bring your own personality and competitive spirit."
After all, the height requirements may have changed, but becoming America's Next Top Model is still a tall order.
