2009 Red Carpet Jewelry Trends

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― The 61st annual Emmy awards will air on CBS this Sunday and while many will tune in to see who won, others will watch just to see what they're wearing.

After all, when it comes to the red carpet, the only thing brighter than the starlets are their baubles.

According to Harvey Rovinsky of Bernie Robbins Fine Jewelers, color will be the dominating trend this season.

"Color is always distinctive ... it makes a statement," said Rovinsky.

Think sapphire and diamonds, rubies and more ... And while stars like Katherine Heigl and Heidi Klum are likely to opt for shades that pop, best actress nominee Christina Applegate could go vintage with lots of pearls and pave.

"Pave is basically free form faceted diamond pieces that have a very estate and vintage feel," explained Rovinsky.

This season's most popular look isn't a trend at all ...it's diamonds: a staple on the red carpet.

"Any place in the world, any time in the world, diamonds are always something women love and when you wear them, you feel good about it!"

Whether you win and Emmy award or not.
