Stephanie Stahl
Stephanie Stahl, CBS 3's award-winning medical specialist, is featured daily on Eyewitness News.
Industry and community groups alike have recognized her for her investigative approach to medical news coverage. A story she exposed in 2000 about an e-coli outbreak in the Philadelphia region is typical of her hard news approach to medical reporting. That investigation was instrumental to the development of new federal recommendations for petting zoos.
Stahl joined CBS 3 in 1992. Previously, she had been an anchor/reporter for WCAU-TV since 1986. A native of South Florida, Stahl began her broadcasting career at WRC-TV in Washington, D. C. She was an anchor/reporter at WPEC-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida and at Miami's WSVN-TV before coming to Philadelphia.
Women In Communications recognized Stahl's contributions in 1997 by presenting her its highest honor, the Sarah Award. In addition, the Pennsylvania Public Health Association honored her with its 2000 Media Award, and in 2001, the American Liver Foundation locally named Stahl its Media Professional of the Year.
Stahl is also a multiple Emmy Award winner for outstanding medical reporting. In 2004, she and colleague Carol Erickson each won a local Emmy Award for "Carol's Story," their moving series about Carol's battle with breast cancer. In 2005, Stahl received the prestigious Diamond Award from Temple University Hospital's Auxiliary for her "dedication to excellence, her professional and personal integrity, and her deep sense of compassion for others."
Stahl is a graduate of American University in Washington, D. C. where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Active in community affairs, Stahl has worked tirelessly throughout her career for a number of local agencies. At CBS 3, she spearheaded much of the station's three-year public service campaign, Domestic Violence: A Call For Help and has been active locally with the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure held each Mother's Day. Off-air, she serves on the board of the Children's Crisis Treatment Center in Philadelphia.
Stahl, her husband and son live reside in Montgomery County outside of Philadelphia.
