Cydney Long

Cydney Long, CBS 3's New Jersey reporter, joined the station as a general assignment reporter in November, 2001.

Since joining CBS 3, Long has earned an Emmy Award for her live reports during the deadly Tropicana Casino Garage Collapse in Atlantic City. She was also recognized by the Mercer County Prosecutor as a reporter that sought out and uncovered supermarket surveillance video of missing mother Amy Giordano before police uncovered the video.

Long, a native of Medford, returned to the Delaware Valley from Austin, Texas where she was an investigative report for K-EYE-TV, the CBS affiliate there, from 1999 until 2001. While in Austin, she was honored with an Associate Press award for her investigative series on a Texas death row inmate in which she reported new DNA evidence that could reverse his conviction. Her work there also included coverage of the "Texas Seven" prison escapees, the Federal Trial of missing atheist leader Madalyn Murray O'Hair and the Texas A&M bonfire collapse.

Long began her broadcasting career in Tampa, Florida as a producer for WTSP-TV. Later she became a reporter and photo-journalist for Time Warner Cable's 24-hour new station Bay News 9 in Tampa and Central Florida. She also served as both reporter and anchor for News 13 in Orlando, Florida. While there, she distinguished herself with her hurricane coverage on both Florida coasts.

Long is a graduate of the University of South Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication/Broadcasting. Active in the community, she participates in many charity events including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She is also active with the American Cancer Society and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. She enjoys yoga, pilates, shopping and relaxing with a good book. She and her husband, Fred Penza, their son, Carlo, and Cocker Spaniel Cooper live in Hammonton, New Jersey.
